Restoring Rangelands Through Community-Led Stewardship

Abavuseleli Bemvelo Community Initiative - The Regenerators - brings communities together to promote sustainable land use, holistic livestock management and the regeneration of degraded grazing areas. Rooted in local knowledge and collective action, our work focuses on healthier rangelands, stronger climate resilience and improved community livelihoods.

Stewardship Pillars

Community-Led Land Care

ABAVUSELELI combines community participation, indigenous ecological knowledge and sustainable grazing practices to encourage rangeland regeneration and improve how land and livestock are managed.

Holistic Grazing

Communal Herd Planning

Land and Water Resilience

Promoting planned livestock movement and holistic grazing practices that support veld grass regeneration, reduce land degradation and encourage more sustainable use of communal grazing areas.

Encourage collective planning and responsible management of communal herds, including grazing arrangements that allow land to rest and vegetation to regenerate.

Promote sustainable land management, water harvesting and climate adaptation practices that can help communities protect natural resources and strengthen resilience to changing conditions.

Local Knowledge. Collective Decisions.

Sustainable land management begins with the people who depend on the land. ABAVUSELELI values community participation and indigenous ecological knowledge in decisions about grazing, land restoration and natural resource management. By bringing local experience into the process, the initiative seeks to encourage shared responsibility for the environment and the future of rural livelihoods.Matobo Community Grazing Committee
